明万历《秀水县志》卷2《兵政》：“杉青闸巡司，弓兵二十名。”清宗源瀚等纂、民国徐则恂等修订：《浙江全省舆图并水陆道里记》（杭州，武林印书馆，1915年）之《嘉兴县五里方图》有杉青闸，在今嘉兴市北，运河西岸，即此。
