明洪武元年（1368年）改真定路置。⑴治真定县（今河北正定县驻地正定镇）。属河南分省。辖5州，直领9县。洪武二年正月癸亥（1369年2月14日）改中山府为定州，属真定府。⑵四月甲戌（1369年5月16日）析涉县往属广平府磁州，⑶广平府属井陉县来属。⑷七月己亥（1369年8月4日）蠡州往属保定府。⑸是年，保定府属曲阳、行唐二县来属定州。⑹辖境变化。
