蒙古初改真定府置。⑴治真定县（今河北正定县驻地正定镇）。领中山府及赵、邢、洺、磁、滑、相、浚、卫、祁、威、完十一州。蒙古太宗八年（1236年），以邢、磁、威、洺四州置邢洺路，⑵辖境缩小。

⑴元升真定府为真定路的时间，似无明确的记载。据《元史》卷58《地理一》磁州下云：“元太祖十年，升为滏源军节度，隶真定路。”（第5册，1359页）又《元史》卷1《太祖纪》：太祖十五年秋，“木华黎徇地至真定，武仙出降。”（第1册，第21页），是真定府在太祖十五年秋才入蒙古，《地理志》的记载似有问题。现暂以太祖十五年为改真定府为路的年份，待详考。
