隋开皇三年（583年）置。⑴治河间县（今河北河间县驻地）。辖河间、文安、乐寿、束城、景城、高阳、鄚、博野、乐乡、长芦、平舒等县。大业三年（607年）改为河间郡。⑵
又：《隋书?地理志》河间郡饶阳县下云“开皇十六年分置安平、芜蒌二县，大业初省入焉。”（北京，中华书局，第857页）《元和郡县图志》、《太平寰宇记》、嘉庆《清一统志》均未言及安平县并入饶阳县事，且饶阳县与博陵郡安平县（治所即今河北安平县）相邻。因此，此“安平县”析并真相不明，不单独标出。
