约西汉初置。⑴治所在今河北冀县冀州镇。⑵西汉先后为广川国、信都国都和信都郡治。新莽时改名新博亭县。⑷

⑴《汉书》卷28下《地理志下》，第6册，第1633页。
按：《地理志》信都国都信都，信都县当在封广川国前已经存在，因无具体年份，暂作惠帝元年（公元前194年）置县。
⑵乾隆《清一统志》卷31冀州：“信都故城，今州治。漢置縣，為信都國治。”

⑶按：《汉书?地理志》言赵国为秦邯郸郡，襄国县属赵国，则秦信都县也当属邯郸郡。《括地志》言属巨鹿郡，不从。

按：据《汉书》卷99中《王莽传中》：天凤元年（14年），“郡县以亭为名者三百六十，以应符命文也”。又曰：郡有内郡、近郡、边郡，“合百二十有五郡。九州之内，县二千二百有三”。（12册，4136—4137页）据此，姑作县在新莽天凤元年（14年）改名。",
