新莽时，象氏侯国除，改为县。⑴治所在今河北隆尧县隆尧镇北户曹村。⑵属巨鹿郡。约刘玄更始元年（公元23年）改名。⑶

按：据《汉书》卷99中《王莽传中》：天凤元年（14年），“郡县以亭为名者三百六十，以应符命文也”。又曰：郡有内郡、近郡、边郡，“合百二十有五郡。九州之内，县二千二百有三”。（12册，4136—4137页）据此，姑作在新莽天凤元年（14年）改名。
⑵嘉庆《清一统志》卷：“象氏废县，在隆平县东北二十五里。汉元朔三年，封赵敬肃王子贺为侯国，属巨鹿郡。后汉废。《寰宇记》：古象城，在昭庆县西北三十里，隋因以名县。《明统志》：在县东北三十五里。《赵记》：舜弟象尝居此。”（第10页A）

⑶按：王莽败后，全国复汉旧郡、县名，但何时复名，未详。据《后汉书》卷11《刘玄刘盆子传》：更始即帝位，建元曰更始元年（23年），“是时海内豪桀翕然响应，皆杀其牧守，自称将军，用汉年号，以待诏命，旬月之间，徧于天下”。（2册，469页）据此，姑作刘玄更始元年（23年）复旧名。
又按：象氏侯国在新莽时已经国除，《续汉书?郡国志》又无象氏县，是象氏县在东汉初年已废。因无具体废除年份，此处仍作更始元年恢复旧名。",
