西汉景帝五年（前152年）改邯郸郡置。⑴治邯郸县（今河北邯郸市）。⑵辖邯郸、易阳、析人、襄国等四县。新莽时改为桓亭郡。⑶

⑴《汉书》卷28下《地理志下》：“赵国，故秦邯郸郡，高帝四年为赵国，景帝三年复为邯郸郡，五年复故。莽曰桓亭。属冀州。”（中华书局，第6册，第1630页）
⑵《汉书》卷28下《地理志下》：“邯郸，堵山，牛首水所出，东入白渠。赵敬侯自中牟徙此。张晏曰：邯郸山在东城下。单，尽也。城郭从邑，故加邑云。”（中华书局，第6册，第1631页）
《畿辅通志》卷54：“邯郸旧城，在今邯郸县西南。《名胜志》：旧城在今治西南八里，俗呼为赵王城，世传赵敬侯自中牟徙都居此。《舆城记》：邯郸城大数十里。今县城及故城皆是。”
史念海《秦县考》有邯郸县（《禹贡》第7卷第6、7合期，第316页）
河北省地方志编纂委员会：《河北省志?建置志》：“秦嬴政十九年（前228年）置，为邯郸郡附廓县。治今邯郸市。”（河北人民出版社1993年版，第17页）
⑶按：据《汉书》卷99中《王莽传中》：天凤元年（14年），“郡县以亭为名者三百六十，以应符命文也”。又曰：郡有内郡、近郡、边郡，“合百二十有五郡。九州岛之内，县二千二百有三”。（12册，4136—4137页）据此，姑作县在新莽天凤元年（14年）改名。",
