秦始王十七年（前230年）置，颍川郡治，汉高帝五年（前202年）属韩国，六年（前201年）复故（1），天凤元年（14年）改名颍川（2）。治今河南禹州市（3）。

（2）《汉书》卷99中《王莽传中》：天凤元年，官名悉改，以亭为名者三百六十，以应符命文，九州之内，县二千二百有三。（12册，4136~7页）姑作此年改。
（3）《清嘉庆一统志》卷187《开封府二?古迹》：阳翟故城“即今禹州治。”（商务印书馆，1934年，《四部丛刊续编》69册）按：1913年改州为禹县，1988年改县为禹州市。",
