隋开皇十八年（598）置韩城县，属冯翊郡。①唐武德七年，改属西韩州。八年，移西韩州治此。贞观八年属同州。②天宝元年（742），改同州为冯翊郡，乾元元年（758），复为同州。③治今韩城县城。④

②《旧唐书》卷38?第十八：地理一?同州，韩城，隋县。武德七年，割属西韩州。八年，自河西县移西韩州理于此，领韩城、郃阳、河西三县。贞观八年，废西韩州，以韩城等三县复还属同州也。（中华书局，1975 年，5 册，1400 页）《旧唐书》卷38?第十八：地理一?同州，“（武德）三年，分朝邑置河滨县，分郃阳置河西县，分澄城置长宁县。仍割河西、韩城、郃阳三县，于河西置西韩州。”谓韩城属西韩州当在武德三年，不从。
