隋开皇十年（590年）迁置，为封州治（1）。治所即今广东省封开县封川镇（2）。开皇十八年（598年）改名封川县（3）。

（1），《旧唐书》卷41?岭南道?封州：“隋苍梧郡之封川县。”领县四：封川，州所治，梁置梁信郡。隋平陈，改为成州，又改为封州。隋末，州废为封川县，属苍梧郡。隋移州于封川口，即今县治。（北京，中华书局，1975年，5册，1719页）。开皇十年改为封州。移州治当始于此年。
（2），唐封川县治即今广东省封开县封川镇，至清未见迁徙记载。
（3），《隋书》卷31?地理下?苍梧郡：“梁置成州，开皇初改为封州。”封川县：“梁曰梁信，置梁信郡。平陈，郡废。十八年改为封川。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，883页）。
《元和郡县图志》卷34?岭南道?封州：“梁于此置梁信郡，属成州。开皇十年改为封州。大业三年罢州，以县属苍梧郡。武德四年，复置封州。”管县二：“封川县，本汉广信县地。梁于此置梁信郡、梁信县。隋开皇…十八年改为封川县，皇朝因之。”（北京，中华书局，1983年，下册，900页）。",
