①《宋书》卷35《州郡志一》宣城太守：“临城令，吴立。”（第4册，1035页）《太平寰宇记》卷105池州青阳县：“本吴临城县地。赤乌中置。”（光绪金陵书局本）清吴增仅撰、杨守敬补正《三国郡县表附考证》：丹阳郡“临城，《沈志》：吴立。《南畿志》赤乌中，分石城、陵阳地置侯国。赤乌中孙楷封此。见孙韶传。”（《二十五史补编》第3册，2932页）赤乌中，无确年，姑定于赤乌六年（243年）。
②《清嘉庆一统志》第40册，卷118《池州府古迹》：“临城废县，在青阳县南。三国吴分陵阳、石城地置县。隋平陈废。……《县志》临城镇，在今县南五里。”今安徽青阳县（蓉城镇）南五里有城西、城东地名，当时古临城县故址。见《安徽省地图册》青阳县幅，安徽省测绘局编制，福建地图出版社，1984年。
