唐证圣元年（695年）析衢州常山、须江二县及饶州弋阳县置玉山县，属衢州，天宝元年（742年）属信安郡，乾元元年（758年）割属信州（1）。宋同（2）。元至元十四年（1277年）属信州路，至正二十年（1360年）朱元璋属广信府（3）。清迄1911年不改（4）。治今江西玉山（5）。
