齐建元元年（479年）迁治于安宁（1）。领思平、莫阳、平定、安宁、罗州等县。郡治安宁县，治所即今广东省阳江市西白沙镇。辖境相当今广东省阳江市、恩平县和阳春县中部地区（2）。隋开皇十年（590年），郡废，县属高州（3）。

（1），《南齐书》卷14?州郡志上?广州?高凉郡，领有“安宁，罗州，莫阳，西巩，思平，禽乡，平定”七县。（北京，中华书局，1972年，1册，263页）。作齐建元元年（479年）迁治于安宁。
（2），据所领县故址及其后政区变迁和《一统志》广东各县沿革，辖境相当今广东省阳江市、恩平县和阳春县中部地区。
（3），《隋书》卷31?地理下：“高凉郡，梁置高州。统县九：…高凉，旧置高凉郡，平陈废，大业初复置。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，882页）。",
