明洪武九年（1376年）改江西等处行中书省置，治南昌府（即今江西南昌市）。（1）领南昌、瑞州、九江、南康、饶州、广信、建昌、抚州、吉安、临江、袁州、赣州、南安十三府。（2）明嘉靖四十一年（1562年），广东潮州府平远县来属。（3）
