隋大业三年（607年）改宣州为宣城郡，①领县六县：宣城、泾、南陵、秋浦、永世、绥安。②治宣城。③唐武德三年（620年）改为宣州，并於泾县分设猷州，於绥安县置桃州，辖境缩小。④

②《隋书》卷31《地理志下》：“宣城郡，旧置南豫州。平陈，改为宣州。统县六：……宣城，旧曰宛陵，置宣城郡。平陈，郡废，仍并怀安、宁国、当涂、逡遒四县入焉。大业初置郡。……泾，平陈，省安吴、南阳二县入焉。……南陵，梁置，并置南陵郡，陈置北江州。平陈，州郡并废，并所管石城、临城、定陵、故冶、南陵五县入焉。秋浦，旧曰石城。平陈废，开皇十九年置，改名焉。永世，平陈废，开皇十二年又置。……绥安，旧曰石封，平陈，改名焉。梁末立大梁郡，又改为陈留。平陈，郡废，省大德、故鄣、安吉、原乡县入焉。”（第3册，877页）
